How to Maximize Treadmill Workouts with TRUE Fitness Treadmills

July 11, 2011

Whether you are just a beginner or a pro runner, it is easy to get in a rut and not see any progress with this workout.  It is important to be able to take advantage of all of the benefits of running by making sure you’re not stuck on “cruise control”.  Here are some tips to maximize treadmill workouts:

Tips to Maximize Treadmill Workouts

One common misconception about running is that staying at a constant pace for a long distance is the best workout.  The truth is this isn’t always the best because you are not training your heart as much as you would with an interval workout. When running on a treadmill, running at a steady pace eliminates many of the benefits of using a treadmill.  It is important to remember to change up your cardio workout. There are many ways to maximize treadmill workouts.

On a TRUE treadmill, there are multiple programs to help you do this.  There are options to choose from that include running interval where you can choose the workout time and workload, while the machine customizes a set of speed intervals to maximize your workout.  This switches up your normal routine while also burning more calories, getting you in better shape, and making you faster. Another great way to not only burn calories but also tone your muscles is to change the incline of your treadmill.  Going uphill and downhill while using the treadmill helps to tone many lower body muscles including your glutes, thighs, and calves, and also helps to strengthen your core.

TRUE Treadmills like our CS200 Treadmill and our Alpine Runner both have hill interval programs that help you customize a workout that changes the incline or declines at different times during your workout.  This is just another way to change up your typical workout routine while also boosting the advantages you take out of it. Although increasing your speed and changing up your technique are all great ways to get into shape, endurance is just as vital.  You should keep in mind that doing these treadmill workouts for twenty minutes every day is a good workout but you should push yourself by increasing the length of your run.  Adding five minutes every week to these workouts will completely change the results you get.
